“We must commit to teaching in a way that totally disrupts and dismantles the system of oppression we have been operating within for over 400 years.” -Kelisa Wing via https://educationpost.org/teachers-must-hold-themselves-accountable-for-dismantling-racial-oppression/?fbclid=IwAR3gg_PMYo-1YxLH3HlPmrug8dcu6AiBki9S6Vyo-n4UkHIKC9qVY7FC6RY
We need to be the voice for the unspoken and take action for social justice!
In Yogic Philosophy, the Sage Patanjali, created the Sutras. Sutra, translating to “thread” connects the heart of “yoga” with the movement and the mindfulness practice.
The 1st Sutra states: “Atha Yoga Anushasanam” which translates from the Sanskrit language, “NOW begins the practice of Yoga”.
NOW is the time to put your yoga in action! NOW is the time to use Mindfulness, SEL and Yoga as tools to empower yourself to make a difference! It’s time to get uncomfortable to make a shift for the better. Black Lives Matter! Take your practice OFF the MAT and into every moment. True yoga is having this dialogue. How will you choose to make yourself heard?
The end of school may be approaching, but we need to begin the conversation about Social Justice, Racism, Equality and Human Rights, NOW.
In yoga, the Lotus flower is used as symbol of transformation. The Lotus flower grows through the mud. NOW is the time to no longer be at ease in the muddy water. NOW is the time get messy, muddy, untangle hatred and oppression and blossom and transform into freedom. We are not free, until EVERYONE is free.
